James Docherty – A lived and professional perspective on “recovering from adversity”

James Docherty is a Project Manager at the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, where he’s spent over 15 years leading innovative, trauma-informed projects to prevent violence and promote recovery. Drawing on his own lived experience, he champions a public health approach to tackling Adverse Childhood Experiences and untreated trauma. James also advises Community Justice Scotland and is a resident trainer at Tigers Early Years Academy, embedding children’s rights and relationship-based practice into early years care.

At the drop-in, James will be delivering a powerful talk sharing his lived experience and professional insights into violence prevention and trauma recovery.

So why not come along, see what’s on offer or get a private 1-1 chat with one of our professional volunteers in our break-out room.

And of course, pizza, snacks, and drinks are all free of charge—so whether you’re looking for professional advice, peer support, or just a welcoming space to connect with like-minded people, we’d love to see you there.

You are not alone—there is strength in numbers.

No need to book, just pop in. No cost required, fully-funded by Jamie’s Sanctuary.
