Trapped By Your Thoughts

It may be hard for you to get out of bed today but do not let those thoughts control you, do not believe the lies in your head, you are enough today!

As another month flies by us, it brings something different. I feel like where I am in this moment is the feeling of how so many of us are trapped within our own minds and fooled by time. I am a strong believer that time is just an illusion. We run our lives on time and the mere thought of waking up in the morning and seeing ‘time’ can cause mixed feelings. Perhaps you have slept in for work or running late to drop the kids off at school or perhaps your days are filled with too much time and you have nothing to do – this can also be a trigger.

Let me just put this out there… if, for example, you have slept in and the first thing you think is “Oh no, I am going to be late, my whole day is going to be out of control now and nothing will go right”, straight away we have convinced ourselves of the worst. Why not stop your thoughts in their tracks and think differently?

What if you were meant to be late, what if there was a good reason for it? What if your day doesn’t get out of control and what if you have the best day? Far too often we let our thoughts control us. As human beings we have around 60,000 thoughts per day and about 90% of them are from the past or looking too far into the future, two things we have no control over. Living in this state of mind causes low vibrational energy, hence why we have anxiety or bad days etc. How many of us are truly living in the moment? 10% of our thoughts are in the present moment which means most of us aren’t even living, we are just existing. For people who like to read, I read a book called “The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer and this book really helped me to understand my thoughts.

As a mother who has lost a son to suicide, I cannot begin to explain the intrusive thoughts and visuals I suffer from daily. Some of you may not know this but although I was not the one who found my son that day, I arrived shortly after, so what I saw that morning haunts me. The sound of my own crying and screaming also still haunt me. There are days where I get really caught up in this and find it very hard to escape my own mind, so I am no expert, but I do have ways to cope and when these coping mechanisms stop working, I go back on a path of self-discovery to find new was to cope. There is no right or wrong way to deal with mental health, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar etc, these all stem from some sort of trauma and we are all individual and unique in our own way. What works for one, doesn’t always work for another. But please don’t stay ‘stuck’.

If you are struggling to find ways then please feel free to reach out to me at Jamie’s Sanctuary, I will help you. No matter your age, race, gender, you DO NOT need to suffer alone. It may be hard for you to get out of bed today but do not let those thoughts control you, do not believe the lies in your head, you are enough today! What if you push yourself out of bed and have an amazing day?

Let’s stop existing and start living. A quarter of a million people did not get the chance to wake up today, you did, you woke up for a reason – never forget that.

Strength in Numbers!
